Why a Learning Centre at Sigmund Freud University?

Sometimes, learning and keeping it all in balance – study, clinical hours, personal life – can be stressful and challenging for students. As self-development and self-awareness, qualities needed as a future therapist are very individualistic characteristics, and they cannot be predicted, timed or quantified in any way, the thing left to do is to develop skills in the academic part in the manner that the student allocates enough time to develop him/herself.

Furthermore, once the student identifies his/her learning strategy and develops a routine/rhythm/habit, the stress of the exam decreases, leaving space to self-reflection and self-awareness to take place.

What we do?

The Learning Centre’s mission is to empower students with the skills and strategies they need to become autonomous and active learners so that they succeed in their academic endeavors and later in their careers.
We are specialized in helping students meet University’s challenges and rigorous academic expectations, support students in adapting to college learning environment and prepare them for a lifetime of independent learning. Our instructional strategies are adapted to each student’s learning ability level and learning style.
The practical sessions offered by the SFU – Learning Centre will train students in using tools when preparing for challenging assignments and tests, how to learn and review smartly and efficiently.

The Learning Centre train students’ transferable skills in:

  • Structuring learning material;
  • Techniques for a better understanding and memorization of the learning material;
  • Techniques for time management, facing and overcoming procrastination;
  • Writing essay, academic honesty, presentation skills;
  • Exam preparation
