PTS | International Doctoral Community Comes Together in Vienna
The Faculty of Psychotherapy Science at Sigmund Freud Private University Vienna recently welcomed doctoral candidates from around the world for an intensive seminar week within the English-language Doctoral Programme in Psychotherapy Science. The gathering brought together both new researchers beginning their doctoral studies and advanced candidates preparing to complete and defend their dissertations. Throughout the week, students and faculty engaged in seminars, academic discussions, and collaborative reflection on current developments in psychotherapy research and practice.
The event highlighted the programme’s international character and shared commitment to advancing psychotherapy science through innovative research and scholarly exchange.
About the Programme
The Doctoral Programme in Psychotherapy Science at SFU Vienna is one of the few English-language doctoral programmes in this field in Europe. The programme is distinguished by its commitment to methodological pluralism and welcomes empirical, theoretical, hermeneutic, historical, and interdisciplinary research approaches. Doctoral researchers are encouraged to contribute original scholarship in dialogue with related disciplines such as psychology or medicine.
The six-semester programme prepares graduates for careers in academic research, university teaching, interdisciplinary collaboration, and leadership positions within psychotherapeutic and psychosocial institutions.
