PTS | Exploring Crisis, Building Connections: Highlights from our 2026 Summer School
For two inspiring weeks in July, Sigmund Freud Private University (SFU) Vienna welcomed international students to its annual Summer School in Psychotherapy Science. Under the theme “Dealing with Loved Ones in Crisis,” participants explored current perspectives on psychotherapy while gaining valuable practical experience in an international learning environment.
The programme introduced six major psychotherapy approaches – psychoanalysis, systemic, existential, gestalt, person-centred, and horse-assisted therapy – combining theoretical foundations with practical techniques and self-awareness exercises. A particular highlight was the opportunity to observe therapy sessions at SFU’s Outpatient Clinic, offering participants first-hand insights into psychotherapeutic practice.
The Summer School concluded with an inspiring Modality Workshop, where experts presented their respective approaches and engaged in a lively exchange characterised by openness and mutual appreciation. Beyond the classroom, Vienna once again provided the ideal setting for academic exchange and intercultural dialogue among participants from around the world.
SFU Vienna would like to thank all lecturers and participants for making the 2026 Summer School a memorable and enriching experience. We look forward to welcoming the next international cohort in 2027!
